St. Joans

Right by the silk market and the central market is St. Joans.  It has a most amazing sculpture facing the silk market plaza.

We walk by often, but the church is seldom open.

The other day, on our way home from the market, we were able to go inside.  By now, I've come to expect beautiful art, but St. Joans is special.  It's full of sculptures.  The main part of the church is surrounded by statues of the sons of Jacob, the ancestors of the 12 tribes of Israel.

The church is being restored, but is already very beautiful.  Here's a photosphere.

I love this bubbly angelic baptism font.

Here's an ancient poor box, carved right into the stone.

Finally, the shrine for St. Rita.

Got tickets for the Valencia vs. Real Madrid game that's coming up!  I hope Valencia plays a little better...
