Characters of Fallas

Our daily walks have been more and more interesting lately, as the sculptures called "fallas" are being completed all over the city.  In this post I'll show some of the characters of Fallas.

These two are from the plaza at St. Ursulas.

These next two are part of a huge sculpture several stories high.

Occasionally there are characters not so cartoon-like.

But most are grotesque and funny.

Walking around town in familiar places is full of surprises again, as we discover more and more fallas.

It's sort of like a big parade, except it's stationary and you move through it.

Everyone is very relieved that the weather has improved after a rainy Monday and a sour forecast.  Rain and wind are the enemies of Fallas, but things look clear now.
